To all

Anyone who has taken PPI's for a long time, Have you noticed your irritability increases. I have been taking a double dose of Prevacid (30Mg each dose) for about six weeks and found I am impatient, irritable and sometimes downright rude. I am sure part of it is becuase I am not feeling great but it sure seems strange. Can find nothing in the paperwork about this side effect

If you look at many of the medication and fundo threads, you will see that there are a few of us who found the same thing. The difference between my being on PPI's and off has been dramatic according to everyone I know. And I find I laugh a lot more and worry a lot less :-)

Yup, I've posted a few times recently on this. I only took PPI's for a few months, and only a once-a-day dose, and I still was very " impatient, irritable and sometimes downright rude." I saw (as did my husband, who had somehow put up with me) a huge difference when I came off the PPI.

I do remember seeing something in the side effects list somewhere about "depression, " which was the closest they came to mood changes.

I'm lucky that I seem to do okay on an H2 blocker and various natural remedies and so far can manage without the PPI.

If you read the package insert under adverse reactions, the following are listed.....agitation, anxiety, depersonalization, depression (among others).
