Has anyone with GERD continued or started taking enteric coated baby aspirin (81mg) with no side effects? I started taking it about a year ago and discontinued do to GERD symptoms but not sure symptoms attributed to aspirin. I took one of the enteric coated pills and left it sitting in cup of water and noticed it didn't dissolve even after 4 hours. Tried poking it with a fork and it didn't crumble. After 6 hours the outer shell was pretty soft.
It appears that it should be safe to take this pill as it will not dissolve until well into the intestinal tract assuming normal gastric emptying takes 2-3 hours. Not sure how quickly it would dissolve if in low pH acidic medium.
