View Full Version : Any one else worried about the new required pre-certs for Prevacid ?????
Hi guys, haven't been around in a long time....mostly feeling good...stilll taking 1-15mg Prevacid @night...seems to maintain me well...I recently got a letter from my insurance company that stated that now that Prilosec has gone OTC that pre-certs are necessary for Prevacid and all other PPI's.....I went thru the same thing with antihistamines when Claritin went over the counter and I am still fighting with my insurance over my son's Zyrtec...I hope this won't prove to be another huge hassle...has anyone dealt with it yet???? MMN
MMN:
I have been on Prevacid for almost a year straight now. Have not heard from my ins co....my main problem with ins seems to be every rx that anyone in my family gets is not on their approved list, so I end up paying twice as much.

I've run into that problem with Nexium. My insurance company wants me to prove I've tried Aciphex, Protonix, Prevacid, etc. first.
I spoke to my ins.co. yesterday, they told me that if you only take 1 pill a day that you don't need a pre-cert.....that is 1-15mg prevacid. I'll believe it when I see it....The woman said that if you take more than that ,that is when a pre-cert is needed......well, we will see in Jan. when I need a refill. I really resent how much control the Ins. companies have over the drugs we take,it should be the doc's not the ins. Happy Holidays everyone...MMN
