My mom is taking Nexium (40 mg in the am) and Pepcid at night before bed. I know that those inhibit the "pumps," but is it smart to take a LIQUID anti acid , like Mylanta maybe, to neutralize the acid that IS produced??? Seems like she gets the reflux at night during sleep.

I think it's fine to use a simple antacid as well as Nexium, although I think it may be wise to not take them within an hour or so of each other.
The prescribing information for Nexium states: "antacids may be used while taking Nexium"
Hey baseball...you said.."Seems like she gets the reflux at night during sleep."
Be sure that mom is sleeping elevated. You should raise the head of her bed by 4"-6" or get her a bed wedge. This may be uncomfortable at first but she will get used to it. This will stop the acid from backing up into her esophagus while sleeping. Lying flat allows the acid to run out of the stomach and into the esophagus. ALSO, she should try to sleep on het LEFT side as much as possible.
