Can someone offer suggestions on how to reduce bloating with meds like H2 blockers and PPIs? I can't take any of them without terrible bloating. The bloating makes some of my symptoms worse like esophagus spasms and pain. I really need to take the meds, but I can't tolerate them for longer than a couple of weeks and I have to get off of them. Then the pain returns and I have to get back on for a while and then back off. I think if I could take them for the whole course of a a few months I could get a lot better. Any suggestions?

Hi there -
I have the same problem with bloating. I don't think there's much you can do about it. It's part of the whole med thing.
Maybe taking Gas-X or Beano or something would help?

I am sorry to hear you have the same problem. I was hoping that someone here would have some ideas on what might help. The gas-x stuff only helps me a little with burps.

What I have found that helps me the most (doesn't eliminate it) is using a digestive aide like Omnigest before meals and a dose of Citrucel twice a day. I also changed my diet to eliminate foods that I know cause gas like beans, onions, etc. and have increased the amount of rice that I eat. Rice seems to be very easy on my system. I also added more walking and stretching.

By doing the things listed above I have been able to take my medication at the prescribed dosage for several weeks when in the past I could only take it for a few days before I had to stop it for a week or so.

I also found that activated charcoal tablets greatly reduce the amount of gas in my intestines. I only take it though when I am desperate because the capsules are so large I have a tough time swallowing them.
