low stomach acid?

hi i've been reading a lot about how low stomach acid can really be the cause of digestive problems....and how ppl with this problem should take HCL and how if you do a test..by drinking apple cider vinegar and if your symptoms go away..than you have low stomach acid..and if it doens't than you have too much acid..

so i was thinking....i took prevacid for one week and than stopped and got a really bad acid rebound effect....after just one week on it!!! and my stomach killed...so do you think low stomach acid could be my problem..based on my reaction ??

I got the same shpeel from a health-food store clerk who urged me to drink some apple cider vinegar for my esophagus problems. I looked at her in horror. Why not just put a bullet through my chest? I imagine the pain would be similar...only with the bullet I'd die, with the vinegar I'd just suffer for one week straight. :( I used to love vinegar :(

so i'm guessing that you tried the vinegar..and it just made it worse?

no I didn't...I just think she's insane that's all! If you have gastritis, that means your stomach is inflamed right??? Imagine your skin is inflamed, like when you get a zit or something. What do you think would be soothing - pouring vinegar over it or coating it with something rich and milky?

yeah it doesnt' make logical sense at first..but i've been doing a lot of reading on about it lots of books on it ..and it seems to be very solid and widespread knowledge..and i'm thinking all my symptons got worse after the ppi's acid supressors ...so maybe this is the case for me..though i am scared to take the chance of hurting myself even more!!
