What is everyone taking and how do you feel it is working?

I had been taking Prevacid for 4 years and it was creating a lot of side effects this last year. Have switched to another medication but Doc told me I could try any of them if I think one is better than the other.

What do you all think?

Hi Delap,

It's a Crapshoot!! Sorry, but with people being different, you have to Experiment with ALL the different PPIs and find the one that works best for YOU with the least amount of side-effects!! Good Luck and keep us posted!! :)

Prayers,

Tom

Nexium 40mg day, but have switched to Zantac as I wish to become pregnant. The Nexium works very well for the GERD but I do get some abdominal pain as a side-effect. The Zantac is not as good. I found pantoprazole was also quite an effective PPI. But you need to experiment until you find what is good for you.

My doctor switched me to aciphex and I don't think I like it. Last night I had horrible pains in my legs. This morning I feel swollen or perhaps retaining water and for the past 3 days my face feels all stressed. (if that makes any sense) I may ask to try something else. It does work for the reflux though.

I have been reading with great interest the anti-anxiety drugs everyone is talking about. A few years ago my family doc prescribed alprazolam for my anxiety. I tried taking it and I thought it just made me sleepy so I stopped. Perhaps I should try again or ask her for a different prescription.

You could try getting something herbal for the anxiety - could have fewer side effects. Valerian is meant to be good.

Is Valerian bought at a health food store or is it something you can get at wal-mart?

You can get valerian at walmart - and I've usedit for sleep, but it's neer helped my GERD or LPRD - they have me on a combination of Nexium, Zantac, and valium - none of which is helping - I'm just getting worse *sighs* at least the valiums are keepingme from worrying about it so much til I see my new specialist! *LOL*
