Klonopin

Does anyone know if it's safe to stop Lorazepam ad go to Klonopin? My doctor says to just stop Lorazepam and start using Klonopin because it will last longerin the body. He said they are very similar and there will be no problems switching. Does anyone know if it's safe? Iwould appreciate any responses, thank you.

Hi Milan,

Is there a reason why you are changing meds?
If you are forgetting to take the lorazepam
for a few days, the klonopin should give you more
leeway. (up to 40 hours is mentioned)

Ask the doc if taking a half dose of each med
at the same time for a week would cause any problems?

You have to trust the doc and ask more questions while you are in his office if you are having
difficulty accepting his advice.

Hi Pard,

I don't want to change meds, it''s just that I am running out of Lorazepam and I have klonopin at home. My doc said I can change without a problem, so I just wanted to make sure. I do trust my doctor but I am making sure hehe. I also have Xanax at home but I have not used it yet. What you think would be the best thing to do? Take Klonopin after I run out Lorazepam, or take Xanax instead of Klonopin? I am not sure which one would help the most with my anxiety.

Hi Milan,

If you still have bloating and chest tightness,
it certainly would be interesting to see if the xanax helped more than the lorazepam.
(A low dose like a 1/4 mg before bed while you
are taking the old med and then increasing it a bit if needed when the loraz runs out) You can always add the klonopin if the xanax is not right.

I am surprised that you have not tried the xanax yet, with all the discussion about it.
GW or Hallsy are the ones to ask about it. :)

I stopped Lorazepam and trarted Klonopin. It makes me dizzy and sleepy a little but seems to calm me and relax me. It seems to be lasting longer than Lorazepam too. I just take .25 mg in the morning and .25 at night. I will keep you posted on my progress as far as anxiety goes. i also take Paxil 10mg before I go to sleep. I aksed my doctor and he said not to take Xanax for now, he wants me to see if Klonopin works as it is longer acting and easier to get off. I hope to use it just short term, as I heal from the FUNDO.
