Hi -- I just stumbled on this forum this morning and was so glad to read that I am not imagining stomach pains since starting on protonix. I have GERD, a hiatal hernia and something called
Kaposki's rings, which I had a procedure for a couple of weeks ago. My stomach is sore when gently pushed on and seems sort of swollen - any info on this side effect would be greatly appreciated and also any other medications that you've found that don't do this - Thanks for any help - mamasica

Hi There I can tell you that chemically speaking, protonix is the weakest of all of the PPIs .

It's hard to tell you which PPI won't give you side effects because everyone's body reacts differently to each individual drug. You have to change and experiment yourself to find out which drug YOUR OWN body can tolerate the best.

Personally speaking i felt horrible on protonix, i had the least side effects on Nexium, but everyone is different. Good luck and take care.
