Has anyone had side effects from omeprazole? If so, how long did they last - did they subside when you got used to the medicine?

I've taken it for 2 days so far and have got a kind of "sick headache" and nausea. It also doesn't seem very effective yet - still have acid symptoms.

I'm experimenting with different meds at the moment. Anyone else have trouble with omeprazole? What worked for you?

I stopped taking omeprazole (generic) a few weeks ago when I began to suspect that it was causing me to be very, very cranky. I've felt MUCH better since I stopped--it took about a week for the crankiness to subside. Right now I'm getting by with zantac, DGL, ginger tea, and enzymes, with success some of the time but not all of the time.

I had that on Prilosec, plus joint aches and brain fog, and ringing in the ears, anxiety. Bob

I concur with Bob, I have the joint pain after a few days, so the H2 antiacids have to do the work. Oddly enough, my cardiologist experiences the samething, so when he heard I suffered joint pain, he fired off a informational letter to the FDA. The other GP docs thought I was nuts stating it caused joint pain, so they just patted me on the head and sent me on my way.

Just wondering what enzymes you are using and how you go about getting them?

Thanks!!

I've had side effects from most meds. Usually diarrhea, headache, nausea, and my newest one, blurry vision. They usually lesson over time with some meds, but I think there are some meds some people just cant handle. As for them not working yet, it usually takes about a week, in my experience, before you start to feel the benefits of the medication. Good luck

The stuff I'm using is "Source Naturals" (brand) "Essential Enzymes." I'm not at all convinced that they do anything--I'll probably finish the bottle and not bother with any more, at least not of that type. This particular type is all vegetable-based. You can also get "real" digestive enzymes, which I guess are from animal sources. I haven't tried them yet, and may, or may not. You can find a variety of enzyme supplements at any health food store that sells supplements.
