What happens when Nexium, Prevacid, and Protonix doesn't work???

I have had severe bouts of GERD on and off for 5 years now. It will go into remission for awhile and then come back with a vengeance. Right now nothing seems to be working for it and it's making me very nauseated. I can't even drink anything carbonated because I'm afraid I'll throw up if I burp. I work for a family doctor and plan to get him to try and do something for me today. Do any of you have suggestions??k

    Thanks

    Amanda

If you have had these problems for 5+ years and the meds are not working for you, it's time to look into the nissen surgery or one of the newer proceedures available. See a good gastroenterologist and have a 24 hr PH test and a manometry.

Sorry you're having such a hard time.

The PPIs often don't liberate us from avoiding our trigger foods (such as carbonated drinks), so you do need to be really careful even with the drugs. I had horrible reactions to PPIs when I was on them before my lap Nissen, and I can relate to what you're going through!
