  • Need low acid past & pizza recipes

Dr. K's Dropping Acid book is great however I need suggestions for pasta sauces(other than the obvious butter & garlic and without dairy) and pizza toppings (since tomatoes are too acidic)?

    Any ideas?

ALSO Been trying to replace wheat -so far most products or replacements for wheat crust taste like paper mache! < ? >

    John,

You can use CalciBlend to neutralize the acids in food and beverages. I use it on all tomato sauces in Pizza etc. I would not be able to eat anything like that without it.

Are you trying to stay away from Wheat or is it gluten in general? I just discovered that I am gluten intolerant and have spent quite a bit of time researching substitutes for pasta, bread, etc.

Sometimes we just have to accept the fact that trigger foods are completely out of the question, even with help like Hawk describes. So you might not find acceptable products.

I have to avoid gluten (which doesn't give me reflux, oddly) and I've learned to shop around. Some brands provide good bread but lousy crackers, say. Pizza doesn't appeal to me, so I can't advise you on a brand for good crust, I'm afraid. Any reason you can't make your own? Getting dough you like will probably take trial and error, of course. Also, keep in mind that pizza doesn't have to have tomato sauce. Great pizza toppings that don't include tomatoes are fairly common now. (I know, I know. It's the tomato sauce you want!)

The biggest problem I had adjusting to gluten-free food was that much gluten-free food is based on rice flour, and eating too much of that caused insulin issues. I've since learned the marvels of diversity -- plenty of brands make products using other grains -- and I am fine. At this point I can't even remember the last time I wished I could have wheat.

      Good luck!
